This emerged out of a discussion I had with =kd8lmno about Squaresoft cliche characters: the angsty spiky-headed boy hero, bishounen villain, and petite flower love interest were already well-worn by the time The Bouncer (a game which exemplifies all of the bad about Square and none of the good) came out. However I realised that no matter what game (FFVII, Kingdom Hearts) or movie (FFVII: Advent Children) he appears in, Cid Highwind is cool as shit. This is my tribute.

I am willing to somberly put down your remarks about the bouncer to stress, but the fact that you berated this poor game and said nothing about the atrocities commited in the making of ten and it's defunct cancerous semi-sequal has damaged what little respect i ever had for you. good day sir.

I singled out The Bouncer because it represents a sort of tipping point, not because it's the worst offender. Before it Square's franchises retained some semblance of innovation (despite the suckingness of 8's battle system); after it Square seemed more committed to the direction of bankable bishies and fan service.

And I rather enjoyed 10. Except for the Stupid Chocobo Tricks mini game you had to play to get Tidus's ultimate weapon.

i was fascinated by 8's battle system. i loved that i could spend as much time as i wanted stocking up on magic, and guardian forces were fun ways for any character to learn interesting moves like devour and mug. i reflect upon my exposure to your end of the spectrum with due respect, however i am likely to think twice about returning without good reason.

lol! Those are simply funny. The color one, the re-entry one, and the Britney one just fits perfecly with him XD

As for characters cliches (spiked haired hero, angst whatever), Cid itself IS a character cliche. No, really, he appears on almost every game. And in the movie! lol!

I like Cid he's a cool character but not my favorite.
I really like this though it's great!!! Cid is really cool though I mean the world could blow up in 5 minutes but he wouldn't care as long as he had a fag and something to complain about ^.^
